MY MOVE TO THE MOTOR CITY!

Yes, I traded in the warm weather for the winter weather, the beaches for the lakes, and, the Magic City for the Motor City.

I'm now living and working in the "D" -Detroit that is- and enjoying every brisk bit of it!

Why did I leave the sunshine state?

A career jump for me (bigger tv news market), a challenge taking on an entirely new city, and, I'm a winter baby who enjoys the four-seasons - so look out for liveshots from me in peacoats, bubble jackets, scarves, gloves, hats and boots when it's cold and less layers when it's warm.

I've been getting these questions lately: "Why Detroit? Why Michigan?"

My answer: "Have you ever been there?"

If not here are some things to consider .... the Mitten State, as Michigan is referred to, is a state with many Great Lakes and great sports teams - both college and professional.

The Motor City is a city that is the birthplace of Motown, home of the big-three car companies - GM, Ford and Chrysler, a place where 24-hour-a-day Coney Island hotdogs and great architecture live - all as the metro area becomes a foodie haven with big name chefs including Michael Symon opening up restaurants.

In the D's downtown, Comerica Park where the Tigers (baseball) play is literally across the street from Ford Field where the Lions (football) play.

Also downtown, three casinos - MGM, Motor City and Greektown - plus one right across the Detroit River in Windsor, Canada - Caesars. Yep, once you're in downtown Detroit, you're about a five-minute drive to Canada via bridge or tunnel!

And, thanks to film incentives in Michigan, movies like Eminem's 8-Mile to Tyler Perry's Alex Cross along with blockbuster hits like Transformers and Batman have several scenes that were filmed in Detroit - and - the buzz is there are many more in the works.

Altogether, the city in its entirety is one full of history, one with hardworking people with great strength, warmth and character, one on the comeback, and, one just like every other city in the country, with many festivals, concerts, carnivals and stories to tell.

Now I hope you know why I moved here. Not sure how long I will stay, but while I am here, I will enjoy all of the above and more, including sitting by my fireplace and sipping a glass of wine or hot chocolate - depending on my day!

Busy, but always making time,

-Jenn Bizzy
